THE PRIME MINISTER, summing up the discussion, said the Committee agreed that in the forthcoming discussions about the Falkland Islands

dispute with Dr. Ruda we should, if necessary as a basis of discussion, offer the formulae set out in sub-paragraphs (a), (c) and (d) of paragraph 3 of OPD (67) 54, but not the unsatisfactory formula in sub-paragraph (f). Subject to this qualification the proposals of the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretaries for the conduct of the forthcoming discussions were approved.

The two Secretaries of State should also consider the position of the

Falkland Island Dependencies in relation to future negotiations.

The Committee

(1) Approved, subject to the point made by the Prime Minister

in his summing up, the proposals in OPD(67) 54 for the conduct of further negotiations with Argentinian representatives about the Falkland Islands dispute. (2) Invited the Commonwealth Secretary, in consultation

with the Foreign Secretary, to consider the position of the Falkland Island Dependencies in relation to the Anglo-Argentine dispute as indicated in discussion.
